I’ve been waiting for them to release this case for weeks and it looks like they just did; selling out instantly.
Anyone find a solid iPhone X waterproof case yet?
I’ve looked around and most manufacturers are still working on their cases at this point in time.
I’d like a waterproof case primarily because...
Personally, I carry a mini Bic lighter - done and done.

What we talking here - map errors? Incorrect information? User error?
+1 for dirty girl gaiters (and yes, they're unisex).
I use them to keep all the bits and bobs of trail out of my shoes. Work wonders.
Light and easy to clean, won't keep any water out though. ...
I'd be down, planning to be in Seattle around that time, maybe a day or two later.

Heading out in a few days, probably NOBO. Let me know if you're interested still.

+1 for Guthooks, if only for the mapping functionality. Comments were helpful for water sources (flowing/dry) and I really like the pictures of shelters and descriptions when I thru'd the AT (let me...
It's called resection, and it requires at least two known points.
It is possible, but in all honesty it requires having a relatively good idea or where you're located at already, and the ability...

USMC taught me well.
In all honesty, some days were harder than others, but I reduced as many barriers to keeping a journal as possible.
I used a Text Expander shortcut for the header,...
Settling down, most likely.
Got out of the service last year, told the wife I needed to take some time off and try and get right with myself.
We'll see what's next ;)
Thanks TW, I appreciate it!
Mainly to do with my (grand)fatherly demeanor/tendencies.
There was a group of 'youngsters' who I hiked with for a few weeks at the beginning... definitely ended up looking after them, that is...
Didn't see anywhere else suitable, so here it is.
March 1st-August 7th:
(with a week off in the middle to visit family)
It was a fantastic adventure. Highly suggested. [emoji6]

Same.
Used the same mini Bic for my entire thru.
I couldn't have completed my thru without a set of poles. No way, no how.
Didn't meet a single person at the end of my hike who hiked without poles that wasn't in some sort of pain (knees, ankles,...
I carried $20-$30 in mixed bills for the occasion when a business didn't accept credit/debit, using my bank card as the primary means of paying for everything.
Would suggest carrying two cards...
Tarp is sold.
Regarding the bivy, MLD's website says it should fit fine. This model's size large is actually last year's version of the extra-large size.
I personally used a large inflatable...
