Should hikers get off the trail or keep going? I know all the arguments both sides, just curious where we stand as a whole. I dare people to just answer Stop or Go.

I've never backpacked in the early Winter. How do you deal with 12 hours or more of darkness? Can't imagine all that time in a tent.
Finally found a thread that answered my question. Sorry.
The new sleeping bag I bought doesn't fit in the backpack in the stuff sack it came with. It's a 20 liter stuff sack but it's 17" wide and doesn't fit into my daughter's bag. Take it back or don't...
Where do you go for these two big sale days for gear?
I know a lot more now than I did this morning. Thanks for all the advice.
I'm concerned about buying a sleeping bag online and finding it's just to big and bulky. Any advice?
Better question is why do I never see a bear canister in thru hikers videos of what's in my bag? There's the small section just south of Blood Mountain in Georgia that requires it.
In sections that require a bear canisters, can you use one of those impenetrable bear bags instead?
So, now there's no hostel in Hiawassee? After the Blueberry Patch closed, Top of Georgia stepped right in. Who's opening a hostel there? Great place to live.
Maybe it's me but this forum has slowed down in the last couple years, I would think any post would be good.
What's the lightest pack you've carried (lbs) because you've shared the load with family or friends?
If I had 60 days next Summer and wanted to finish at Katahdin, where should I start?
Take a short 5 mile taxi ride from the train station to the Home Depot on Hwy 53 (aka Dawsonville Hwy). From there it would be safe and easier to get a ride to Amicalola. That road goes almost all...
I was amazed to read the amount of trail magic this year. One hiker described 5 acts of trail magic in his first 5 days. It's not only at road crossings but seems to be at every shelter in Georgia....
I've only been day hiking for the past 10 years because my neck. Before that, I had an old external frame pack. Nothing to brag about.
I have a bad neck and have had surgery. I need a pack that puts less weight on neck and shoulders. My mid and lower back have no issues. Ideas?
Bears are scared of us and usually you will only see their backside. That's what the people in this video believed too.

Do you know of anyone who has started in January and finished? From the journals I've read, few make it through the Smokies. I've read a lot of "staying in town a couple more nights until the ice...
OK, I was wrong about the bucket part. Seeing the picture refreshed my memory. It was LuxuryLite. Mister pooh was right. Thanks!
None of those above are the one I saw. It has plastic canisters like a bucket but were shaped like cylinders.
A few years back I met someone who had a pack with detachable canisters/buckets. What are they called? Do they still sell them?
You're wearing jeans, tennis shoes, and got the family tent on your back. You have cans of soup and plan on starting a campfire. Any ultra-heavy campers out there? This is not me but my gear is old...
Feeding the homeless would be good for highschool kids but not younger. I take my daughter to do trail magic. I'd rather have her visiting with a retired doctor or college student than the average...
Did anyone meet their 2006 "Trail Chaplains" Brett(Social) and Bronwyn(Dadelion)? I've met Craig and Suzy. Christians are suppose to preach everywhere. Thay're just doing their "job". They will be...
