Thanks for addressing the Crime and Punishment aspect which was how I started the post. Most replies were in the Yeah or Nah opinion variety more than weighing the their options based on potential...
Howdy folks.
I'm talking a class on public policy, so I brought up Naked Hiking Day. It used to be no big deal back in 95, but that last time I was on the trail there was talk about being slapped...
Thanks. My plan is to drive there and he said I can park for $2 a day. They close Labor Day, so I'll have to figure out about my car, if I want to hike another week up North before heading south.
The good news is that the trail is off the beaten path. The bad news is that its so far off that its hard to get to the path by train, bus, or plane, or pricey shuttle.
So I'm working on trying to...
Yeah, #2 sounds good. Its kind of a pain in my #2 to get to the trail. Harpers is so easy because the train stops there. It will be easy to get to on the way down.
I'm thinking Kent CT or...
Update: I'm heading back.
Backstory (pun intended)
Way back in mid may, I hurt my back coming into Duncanon during a thunderstorm. The left side of my back was sore with the pain going into...
1) Be open daily especially during peak season. Hikers come to depend and plan on hostel stays/resupply resources in line with their walk through the area, so being closed say one day a week, or...
Update: After three chiropractic adjustments I feel kind of better. I ice my back and take aspirin. But kind in the same boat when I got off the trail. It will take time to get my back healed up. Not...
Update: Last seen the Flipper pack in Duncanon. I believe Gary was helping them do a slack to the second shelter out, but I didn't see a mention of them staying there in the log. The night before, I...
I hear you about the 2 weeks Dave. Feel good, but ready for a zero. Hiked into the Doyle in the middle of the pour down. Got food, passed out and was to busy doing errons to even shower and do...
Heard Squeeze fell coming down into Pen Mar injuring his shoulder. I understand he's OK, but can't wear a pack for a while.
Took a few easy days to get over a cold which I'm thinking could be allergies from the record pollan count. In Mt. Holly, hiking to one shelter out from Pine Groove today. I'm a day behind from the...
I agree that this is a very special launch for we humble flippers. Feel like a trail celeb already. Got a jump on yoging at the dinner. Thanks for the trial name. We gotta get an orange whip
Handed in my last paper, vaccuumed my room and handed my landlord the key. Everything's in storage. Only thing left is to get a few bagels. I'm planning on being in HF to be at the pack shakedown...
I just started a facebook group for my flipper journal and fellow flipper chat.

I forgot to pack my hiker Tux, but I'm game for any place we end up for dinner Saturday...walking distance from the tree huger the better. I can't look at the stuff in my pack anymore. I figure I...
What I learned from my several section hikes is to never count your miles from your couch at home. It's a ridiculous exercise. After the first week, we will all get an education. I recall a failed...
I had six day food out of HF then switched to five after looking at the book.
Its a self storage place a few miles out of HF. I will need to get a ride from there.
30 pages. Boy. We flippers are a chatty lot. Great post treehugger especially the tips about food weight. Im down to 31 pound with food and water, but I think I could do better.
I'm going to look...
Down to 31 lbs with 1.5 liters and five days of food. Not sure how much lower I can go. But its down from 37 lbs. 30 sounds like a nice round number.
Anyone looking to do a labor day south launch...
Cool. Can that come in a patch? Would love to have that on my pack when I finish.
How about dumping a liter of water. I tend to only carry about 1.5 liters and guzzle at water spots. I also drink a liter leaving camp.
That can save 2 pounds.
How about everyone sounds off with their Pack Weight.
I mean What pack weight
