Agreed wholeheartedly.
I just don't get the pompous and lecturing tone of the PM. I've been a member of this board for over two years, it ain't like I'm new around here.

Thanks for the info, everyone.
I did receive a very weird email from a member here. I have no clue what the heck he/she is talking about. Here is what it said:
"Group Memberships=norub is not a...
Keep getting an error screen that says I'm not allowed. Called a friend who is also on WB, he can't view it either...
What's up?
Then complain to mr happy or whatever, he's the one who said it happened.
Forgot to add, that I am a beer-lover myself and have even been known to add a few cans of the good stuff into food drops/food caches. But to call a shuttle service and ask for it to be brought to me...
I know that if it were me, I'd be pretty PO'd if I needed a shuttle, only to find out the van wasn't available b/c some hikers were using to to ferry beer and pizza to their buddies...
How does selling the pack for considerably more than you paid for it constitute passing the "saveings" onto other hikers?:-?
Of course domestic dogs are descended from wolves.
However, wolves and dogs differ in their DNA on a mitochondrial level. A true wolf hybrid differs in its DNA from a domestic dog.
How does she know they are "part wolf"?? Does she keep a DNA testing kit with her?
Hint: The VAST majority of dogs that are claimed to be "part wolf" aren't.
Sounds like a couple of husky...
What, did someone hack into your account? Yesterday you're calling her a scammer, today you are singing her praises?

Agreed. And also w/vapor, this Dan character is not a victim in this story. More like comic relief.:D
Not hostility. Just...amusement.
I don't click on tinyurls, so no idea what your link is all about.
Anyhoo, if you trick/lure/entice someone, for the sole purpose of shoving your religion down their throat, then yep, in my book...
I find it ironic that this religious fanatic dangles the enticement of a hot shower/meal to hikers in a way that some may find to be less than straightforward. Then a hiker takes him up on it, eats,...
What is this "offer" about exactly? What kind of experience would a person have who firmly believed in a different religion (or no religion) if they took Dan up on his offer? Would that hiker be...
Well, searching WB for the term "saved" yields over 500 hits. ;) Anything a bit more specific by any chance? Like a link to a thread perhaps? :D
Can you post links to those threads? I can't find the article online, so I can't search. What's the guy's name?
They're so ugly they're cute! :D
I got the most outrageous color I could find, for 2 reasons. 1) Who cares about being proper or fashionable on the AT, for me it's a time to let loose and 2)...
With food? That's awesome, Mindi! :)
I agree with Marta, a pound of food a day is a good estimate for the first week or two of hiking. After that you'll probably need somewhat more. Most hikers carry way too much food.
Awesome. The kind of attitude that has you focused on getting used, top-quality gear at rock-bottom prices and engaging in problem-solving will fare you well on the Trail.
Good idea on the...
Tossing out comments like this isn't going to help someone who is on a tight budget, was obviously resourceful in getting all kinds of great used gear, and is leaving for Springer in 48 hours. Like...
Hey Mindi!
Take a deep breath, go get the comfort beverage of your choice. :) It will all work out somehow. It's normal to be kinda panicky just before you leave, that's part of the fun. :D

I've been in four different Wal-Marts in 2 states over the past few weeks, none had this mythical grease pot.
