During the day the gate opens and closed when it is activated by your vehicle, at night that shut it off and the gate won't open.....I've parked there twice...........very safe.............:)

Access at both ends is via Tablerock State Park and Oconnee State Park. There is parking at each trailhead. I've used a shuttle before from the website.........very reasonable.............have fun,...

Just to add to Phreaks info.........Woods' Hole shelter has no water, atleast a couple of weeks ago, a small trickle just past Bird Gap before you go up Blood Mtn.

I hiked to Cold Mtn NC a couple of years back and started at Daniel Boone Boy Scout camp, but I know there is a way to get there from the Blue Ridge Parkway, just don't know where? Thanks.............

Roan to Erwin is really only 2 days hiking, 19E to Erwin would be about 4 to 5. I wouldn't park at 19E though, Mountain Harbour is right down the road (.3 miles) and a safe place to park, but it's 5...

Did a hike from Carver's Gap to 19E last weekend and there is water everywhere, should be fine just South, where you are going....:)
