Hi all,
I'm hoping to do a section hike in mid-March. Any suggestions on where to go? Obviously I'd like to avoid piles of snow but am willing to put up with some. Hoping for something relatively...
I know there a lot of threads going around about bugs and bug repellant, etc. so forgive me for starting another...but I have to ask this and hopefully people will find it helpful.

I did it a while ago...but it didn't strike me as anything special. It didn't seem very tough and the hut (or should i say "mall") at the top was pretty much a buzz kill...you bust your butt getting...
I know you can get really good deals on some gear online, but when it comes to buying your pack, I recommend going to a store, (REI, ems, etc) and actually trying on and messing around with different...

sorry guys, I hate to keep digging up this old thread. But willi have a problem using a bear bag along this section or would a canister be a better choice?
even if it was affordable I don't see why you'd spend the money. Isn't there something to be said about hauling your own gear with your own strength?
eh, i'm willing to deal with it. it's the only option i have and i've been waiting to do this hike for a very long time
because of work and school...we really have no other choice but to hike in June so we'll be doing the hike at the very end of the month
ideally, inside my tent...
last summer though i had a really small tent (and small vestibule) so i just left it outside (w/ the rain cover on) on the ground...no problems

from the AT map i have, it looks as if the Abol Pines Campsite is located outside of Baxter State Park. Is this true? Would i need reservations to stay here or can i just walk in whenever and pay?
