Yep some people are 'touchy' in this forum.
i got berated for mentioning the woman who did the AT in record time. Mentioned by asking what her name was.

This section has had two rescues in the past two months.
Like jjozgrunt I wear injinji socks with a thicker pair over the top. Never had a blister & when my legs are tired, my feet want to carry on.
Don't use any lotions. Injinji socks, followed by a pair of normal socks have kept me blister free.
I wouldn't want to use a lotion as i sweat out of my feet at an alarming rate.
But you'll miss climbing the lambs knoll!:)
Don't forget to take lunch/a break at Weaverton Cliffs. Best part of the MD AT south of I70.
A fellow member has posted his fight with weight loss etc. he has a blog at couch2trail.com also couch2trail on FB.
ive hiked with the guy & heard his story. You might want to try it out....
I would head South. 3 days of hiking it is possible to do the entire 40 miles. It's easy hiking bar the climb to High Rock & Lambs Knoll. If her prices are crazy high for you, I could pick you up.
Yeah that's a guy in a Bear suit:) you can tell by the walk.
The 3 miles where it joins the C&O canal outside Harpers Ferry. Boring, monotonous & hard on the feet.
i prefer the PA rocks to it any day.
I mentioned no names, & obviously I do not know her as I can't place her name. Hence I asked!
Nor do I suggest that she was doped. Why so combative?
If you decide to do the MD section I'd be happy to shuttle you. And if you get bored I can tag along for a hike.
What was the name of that woman who did the AT in a stupid quick time? She was crying through shin splints & terrible period pains...
she did it a year or two ago. I know she was in the national...

I have an Osprey 2 liter bladder pack with bite valve. As I also use an Osprey backpack it fits perfectly. There is a special pouch in the pack, hole on either side for the hose to leave the pack &...
Typical Canadians.... They were way too polite & didn't want to hurt the bears feelings:)
BTW this is the closest i've got to a bear. (I'm a photographer so I have a reason)
Decrimilization is not the same as it being legal.
7 miles or 20 minutes from the RT 40 trailhead. Hence I hike the AT more than nothing else.
I have over stretched my legs lumbering over boulders. Split my pants a good 6 inches from my crotch. Nothing else to do I called my wife to pick me up at the closet trailhead. As I hiked over there...
My wife & I both use them. Well worth the money!
My feet used to ache like crazy after a few hours. Not anymore! I don't do the camp dance like on the adverts but pretty close.
Sorry it just bother me that people think Puerto Rico, Hawaii etc are abroad, when they are very much part of the U.S. If you had to go through customs I would ask why? It is not a requirement.
To...
[QUOTE=Ricky&Jack;1883242]Most of us are familiar with the trails in the U.S.A (and some in Canada) but I was wondering where you have hiked over seas and what was your experience with it?
I'll...
I'd put it at about 140 miles. Made it half way to Harrisburg so far. Fairly easy hike.
You could also do the Maryland section, then go the Catoctin trail. It's maintained by the folks that do the trial in this area. I find it a bit more difficult than the AT. If you do it at the end...
The climb up to High Rock has enough rocks at the right height that I've split my pants on them once:)
11 year old should be fine.
7 days does seem excessive even with a young one. Guess you could...
