Thanks guys...
Would like to see this added to the blaze....just my opinion....I'm planning a week or two in PA...looking for a ride....I was out in 2016 and did 600 miles....miss it
Oh, and I've also bought gel insoles for my boots since my last hike...they also seem to really help!
Thx, but honestly, it wasn't the shoe/boot that hurt me, it was hiking without stopping/resting because I felt invincible...the pad of my left foot was so sore/blistering from impacting the ground,...
Thanks for the links! I've been stretching and icing afterwards...I just hope it doesn't get worse as I go. I can deal with mild discomfort and some pain, but, yeah...I fear that my hike may be over...
I developed a small bunion on my left foot from my last 5 day hike, I over did it....16 miles a day starting with 6 days of food, by the time I was done I could hardly walk, my feet were so sore!...
Personally, I don't see why destroying these little sites is a good thing. While I would never, ever, create my own fire ring, I like these little out of the way places because it gives the hiker...
thx, but I have my first 5 days pretty much planned...staying at the Doyle on day 4/5....thx though...good luck to you! I'm sure I'll pass you at some point....'Spaceman'...take care!
Interested in having some company.....short notice, I know. :)
I just looked at guthook's and it seems they are removing the unofficial campsite icons in order to preserve the trail....ugh! Well, I'm still going to mark the campsites as I go and be sure to post...
Update on this shelter....I went through here on 4/11/16 and this thing looked run down, and smelled something awful (probably from the firepit). The spring nearby was still running, and refreshing!
I've hiked 111 miles of the AT in PA, from DWG to Swatara Gap, SOBO, and I plan on hiking from Swatara Gap to Amicalola Falls on April 16th. During my hike from DWG to Swatara Gap, I've generally...
I bought a pair of aqua socks for those situations...light weight, and can be used as camp shoes too...
Perhaps I will see you out there...???
I am also planning a SOBO hike from PA to Georgia, starting on the 16th....Since I have already done DWG to Swatara Gap (111 miles), I will be starting at...
I dont know if they were stainless steel. For the amount of time they are in the water, does it matter? Besides, I'm also drinking water from streams and puddles and relying on my filter to save...
I'm hiking SOBO from Swatara Gap, PA to Amicalola Falls....this may not be a huge help if you are going NOBO, but perhaps it will give you an idea of how I planned my trip...
First and foremost, I...
You can also check out my thread on 'Trail diners on the Cheap'.....ideas for meals....good luck!
oh...and I used powdered french vanilla creamer....some generic crap from the dollar store. :)
I priced coffee packets, and the cheapest I found was 19 packets for 5 bucks....Because I don't like instant coffee, nor did I like the price of 200 days of coffee, I made my own coffee packets! I...
My mail drops usually contain 4-6 days of food....in each one, I pack different flavors of pop tarts (I have about 7 different flavors), and usually only one or two days for oatmeal (also different...
I just posted...Trail Dinners on the Cheap.....check it out...I use freezer bags! They work great!
Beginners ‘on the cheap’ dinner suggestions:
Found at Big Lots for $2.00 - $3.00…Bear Creek soup mixes, and rice mixes.
I bought Idahoan instant mashed potatoes at Sam's club, along with A ...
Thank you....Yes, I've been out a few times and there are a lot of cool people out there. I want to go SOBO to avoid the 'bubble'...I don't mind company, but like you, I enjoy my solitude as well.
Looking for a travel partner. I plan on leaving from Swatara Gap, PA and hiking to GA...then returning to PA and hiking NOBO to Maine after a 2 week stay in PA...I have mail drops planned and some...
