Hey All -
This is just a quick post to mention that I, along with my good friend Max Power, will be at the Pine Cobble Trailhead in North Adams, MA this afternoon to begin our end to end hike of...
I agree 100%. Start about late June, early July - depending on the snow pack in the San Juans.
That being said - Sobo (in my humble opinion) is the way to go.
Heading south from Denver will...
Hey Man,
I too am from Massachusetts.
In 07, I hiked the Long Trail.
In 08, I hiked the AT.
In 09, I hiked the Colorado Trail.
I can probably answer any questions you may have. I'm just...
Right now it's looking like:
April - September: PCT Thru-Hike.
September - October: Walking the Dalton Highway in AK (Fairbanks to the Arctic Ocean).
After that... god only knows.
:D
Best Trail Town to take some time off: Damascus VA, Great Barrington MA.
Best Outfitter on or near the Trail: M.R.O. without question.
Best All You Can Eat Meal on or near the Trail:...
Hey All,
One of my WM Sleeping bags has lost quite a bit of down over the past two years. Is there any place that I can send this thing off to where it can be re-stuffed?
Is that service...
Am I the only one who keeps their bear-bag dry by sleeping with it??
Props to my man C-BASS. Enjoy the final leg of your journey man - time to finish this monster!
I would really try to get to Damascus - at least. Just came back from a weekend hike in the Highlands and it was BEAUTIFUL. Hands down my favorite part of the AT in Virginia. Nothing too special to...
oh christ.
Hey Everyone -

Bummer Mags - it would have been great to meet you! Got your E2E Guide printed out and I'm ready to go!
Thanks for the kind words and advice. I will do some more posting!

Ain't gonna happen bro. Need to look somewhat presentable early the following morning.
I know there wasn't any cheap stuff when I went through in 08 - didn't know if anything had changed.
Hey All -
I will be traveling to CT tomorrow, and I am wondering if anyone knows any cheap places to crash for the night near the trail.
I won't be hiking - so camping isn't much of an option....
I hiked the LT in 07 and the Southern 100 miles again on my AT hike in 2008.
I can tell you for sure that there are quite a few expensive places to stay along the Long Trail in Vermont, but there...
Sorry, I feel like I'm being knit-picky, but... Albany ain't no where near the Whites. There IS snow up there right now, and a whole lot of it. And chances are - they're still gonna be snow up there...
I 100% agree. I live in MA and spend a good amount of time in the Whites - specifically on Franconia Ridge and in the Presidential Range. The White mountains can get HORRIBLE weather during every...
This ain't likely to happen too often. Record high for Washington in the month of October is 59, and that was back in the late 1930's.
More average temps will be in the mid 30's.
Just be safe.
Rand's View and Siler's Bald are both AMAZING places, but for me I would have to say... KATAHDIN!
Jesus, someone hang me from the nearest tree.
Not sure. I looked at a few rental prices - looking like 50$ for two nights. At that point - I'd rather spend an extra 30$ and buy a pair.
Does anyone in Massachusetts or in the surrounding area know where I can pick up a cheap pair of crampons ASAP?
If not - can I borrow yours? I'm serious. Heading up to the White's this weekend for...
Yo Kirby -
I End-2-Ended the LT in 07. I have to disagree with DEADEYE - I saw 35 degree temps south of Mansfield on my hike in August. Cold temps are certainly possible - especially above 4,000...
