Don’t hold back tell us how you really feel.
I think that there is only a section of it on the Pinhoti that is in the wilderness. None of the Chinnabee nor the Skyway are in the wilderness.
My first ever hike in the Smokies was over Thanksgiving. First two nights were like August summer nights. Third night front moved in and dumped several inches of snow. Last two days spent post holing.
Same here.
Wrong tarp, wrong pitch or just not knowing how. I have been through some serious storms and torrential downpours and have never been wet in a hammock. I have even survived a tornado in one.
Safety pins.
I was so glad that I had one in Maine June of 2009 when it rained 26 days. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190107/41e98a797da061102985391137028ab2.jpg
Peace Pilgrim, Mildred Norman, was the first female to thru hike at age 44. Emma Gatewood was the first female to solo thru hike
Facebook AT Section Hikers group. Someone said that they had spoken to the family and that is what the family told them.
I heard that they believe her blood sugar dropped and she got disoriented.
I was able to hand at Katahdin Stream CG in 2010.
I think that you mean from ME 27 to ME 4.
There are videos on youtube of bears at NFG tearing doors off of cars to get to food stored inside.
I just slept with mine in my hammock in the 100 mw.
We did that section in June 2009. Started June 6. It had snowed June 1. Temps were mild but it rained almost everyday. All in all it was a good hike.

I stopped at White House Landing. Good meals, shower, washed clothes and a bunk. Decent resupply and no more expensive than a food drop. The one pound cheeseburger was awesome and the homemade pizza...
I have stayed at Mountain Inn several times. Nice place and formally a Holiday Inn. They did offer hiker rates and may still. Free parking even if you are not staying. Friendly staff.
... or just get a Packa that protects the entire pack including shoulder straps and hip belt and is also your rain gear.

I must have been born under a lucky star... I have hiked Maine in both May and June and never encountered cold or black flies. I did encounter rain almost everyday in June.
I am not crazy but I am a carrier!
IMHO Pleasant Pond Mountain is underrated.
Kind of funny that the approach trail mileage is not included in the AT mileage.

It does not matter one way or the other. There is no rules committee, no referees, no umpires, no trail traffic cops. If you hike from only Springer to Baxter Peak you qualify for the 2000 miler...
I did the loop on Thanksgiving a few years ago. Carter Gap was like Grand Central Station but it was all good.
