Mate- not exactly true. Stayed twice since new management took over. They call it Hiker Hostel at Barefoot Hills Hotel now. So by name, you can probably guess there is still a hostel onsite but now...
I think there is a bit of “fake news”, as your dear president calls it, around the Hiker Hostel. I’ve stayed there 2x since J&L sold. Bunks are $35, up from $19, and weekday prices on full rooms...
they still focus on the hiking community, but it is no longer a hostel. they have been fairly unabashed about that. its a full hotel now.
i understand they've recently acquired that large parcel...
Re-reading these old posts, does anyone now wonder why the Saints sold the place? Crickey!
And pretty much everything else...
Sounds like a dog with very high standards. Good for it!
I posted similar thiughts on another thread. Comparing this new place to a totally different concept that once shared the same ground is pointless.
That would be like comparing an Applebees to the...
I'm confused here mates. First, it looks to me that HIKER HOSTEL is long gone. There is a new hotel operator occupying that location with an entirely different focus. It's not a hostel anymore so...
I was thinking about flying down to Atlanta and then doing a NOBO section in March. Haven't quite figured out exactly how far I'll go though. Perhaps into NC and then fly home. Work is tight so...
I've done something similar and it didn't damage the poles. Theft is a bigger risk then damage when going this route. Mine were not good ones either though so there was less of that risk.

Just for fun I called them last week to see if there was any negotiation in the prices. Answer was no! Appears to be sold out for most of the rest of this year. They only have 4 hiker bunks now...
I think that is a very astute observation. This is definitely no longer a Hostel, but it doesn't mean its no longer hiker friendly. As I peruse their site I see lots of ovations to the hiking...
You can go straight to www.barefoothills.com. They still have the bunks "Hiker Hostel". Maybe its two different properties now?
That's good.
Property is now officially no longer a hostel.
This week the company that bought it announced they have completely renovated and turned it into a luxury bed and breakfast- even giving it a new...
just stay away. I almost met my doom when i heard a rustle in the bushes. i went to see what it was and it was a cute little cub. i ran in the other direction as fast as possible but later heard...
Always looking for company in the northeast trails. If you do another look me up.
That is a great list of shuttle providers. I wish I had that last year.
