If $5 a night is close enough to free, Dave’s Place hostel.
A local friend watched him for 4 days. My wife was nearly in tears. Scout was 5 years old, and that was the first time we’d ever left him anywhere!
I totally missed “Smokies” in the title! Somehow I thought he wanted to do the AT, and where to leave his dog while he did. We boarded ours through the Smokies, sorry for the confusion! SMH !
I did neither, but thanks...
We put ours under a pack of his own and took him along...
There’s parking right at the road crossing at Devils Fork Gap, and 6 miles further at Sams Gap, Rt 26, if that helps. I’ve parked at Standing Bear also with no problems.
We started late April from the bottom of Shenandoah National Park. Timing was about perfect.
I did not. Sorry.

Exped duo and EE accomplice worked perfect for us
We used our RV the whole way. Never really had a problem finding parking, and it was rarely a campground. The AT Interactive Map is your friend. Use it to find road/town crossings for mileage...
Try Gooder Grove hostel in Franklin.

Just a little way up river, you could probably walk right across.
We used a Quarter Dome 3, and it worked great!
Yea, Shaw’s in Monson, or the same family I believe has an outfitter at the other end. That said, we arranged for a drop, but made the HMW in 4 nights, one of which was enjoying pizza at White house...
We used RuffWear
Exactly! My wife and I both wore tight underwear with legs. And those underwear were treated with Permethrin. A tick was going to have to spend a fair amount of time in direct contact with that...
My daughter had Lyme disease. It was awful. I’ll take my chances.
Shoulda sprayed your underwear. No worse area to try to find ticks, or ask someone to help, especially when you haven’t showered for 5 days...
You’re welcome!
