Read the book Cool Impossible. In it there is plenty of talk about form. More importantly, there are core, hip, leg and upper body workouts detailed. I also like the P90X workout series, but they are...

Here was my transition. C-lites (10 mm drop) to Helios (6 mm drop) to Altra Lone Peak 2.5. Each season I essentially graduated to a lower drop shoe. With that being said, I find the Altra's way more...
I can't speak to this winter, but I have done that loop. Awesome trip! If you can, sleep at the summit of Carrigain.
Too many road portions for my taste. Honestly though, I would probably do it if it was more convenient for me to get to as part of day/weekend trips.
Perfect time of year!
Every May there is the MMT 100 mile trail race. I have run it. The MT is a great trail. Here is my race report that may or may not help. Feel free to message me with specific questions! I will be...
4 days for me and my wife, but I think that may be a bit fast. Either way, here is a link to the final trip report to maybe help with planning....
Following this post. The Wind River Range is on my list of places to go!
Should be fine. Have a blast!
Excellent suggestion! I will dig a bit into the details of this option. Sure, there will be some that say you didn't do the NET if you take the RF Trail, but I like the PCT mentality a bit...
This is the last 18 miles I need to do! I have been holding off for just that reason, but it looks like soon enough I will need to just suck it up and do all the road walks!
I have the new maps. FWIW, the mileages are off for the sections in MA. In some cases, by more than 20%! It is almost like the maps don't count the road portions.
I haven't considered a thru-hike, but it can be done. I have done a good portion of the New England Trail (made up a several shorter distance trails).
The Metacomet Trail (part of it) is one of my...
My wife and I completed the AT this past September after about 5 years. The ending was kind of anti-climatic atop Katahdin. The tough part now is figuring out what to do with vacation time!
I wish Karl luck. I have met and ran with him on several occasions. A great guy who has roots to the AT.
Here is my strategy. Works well for me. I carry my ID, credit card, ATM card and less than $100 I used credit card whenever possible. I carry it all in a tyvek wallet.
It took me and my wife 4 days. The first week in April when the waysides open is a great time to do this section. We only saw maybe 10 folks on the trail and no car traffic!
Here is a comparison between Crocs and Vivobarefoots...http://www.backpackingengineer.com/gear-review-crocs-vs-vivobarefoot-ultra-ii/
Here is the Patagonia Storm Racer I just reviewed. I like it! http://www.backpackingengineer.com/gear-review-patagonia-storm-racer-jacket/
We did the 100 mile wilderness SOBO this past September. We started at Kathadin Stream Campgrounds in the afternoon. We did a short 13.3 miles that afternoon in about 3.5 hours. Days 2-5 were full...
I've been using trail runners for the past 6 years. I cannot even imagine using boots anymore. No particular stories to tell. Best advice is try a bunch on and find the pair that works best for your...
I used the Packa for years. I liked the all in one poncho and pack cover, but I never really fell in love with it. Now that I got my money's worth, I switched to a traditional pack cover and no rain...
My wife just wrote a review on Woolx and their merino wool base layers. Both of us are amazed at how soft their products are! If curious to know more, here is the review she wrote:...
November just means adding some orange to my outfit. One of my favorite months to explore trails!
Falling Angel and I always wanted to try a 2 person quilt. I already my holiday presents for the year though!
