Boy Scout Leader: Are you married?

If it hadn't of been for the boy scouts that he was accompaning, I would have...
I used mail drops for my medications. I made sure that I had 6 months of refills and my daughter mailed them to me along the way.
I also required an additional medication for my bp on the trail....
That which does not kill you, makes you strong!
Much to my surprise, I really enjoyed the people/social scene that I met on the trail. I had planned my route to take advantage of the solitude, but soon changed my route to include the characters...
Though since I returned, I sleep with lots and lots of pillows. Not that I need them, just that I missed them.
I'm joining the 2025 club!
I've been off line for a bit. A super late Happy B-day to you!
I started at Springer and replaced them at Kincora Hostel. Three days later I stripped the toe protection off. In Perisburg, VA I found that I enjoyed a shoe with a thicker sole.
Excellent thread. I found that I missed the sounds of the birds, and the leaves, and the running water, when I tried listening to my MP3. So I just waslked along listening to the birds and the...
All are welcome. The trail is there for everyone!
I tried a thru in 2008 and got 700 miles. Is it too early to start a thread for us middle aged persons that are planning on hiking after retirement?

Many of the hostels have denatured alcohol available for you to purchase by the ounce, or very often included in the price to stay. I hiked from April to June using only an alcohol stove.
Awesome! Congradulations
Hey Powder River, thanks for your technical input! Like all new gadgets, I'll use the "wait & see" approach, to see if it is congruent to my use as a hiker.
By the way, Powder River, you still...
You ROCK Powder River! Congradulations.
It's taken me awhile to be able to find the ability to address this topic. After my experience with the HenHike08, I was determined to come and post a "buyer beware" article to warn hikers of the...
Everyone from the Hen Hike 08 is off the trail. Started with 5, went down to 3 at the 4th day. Lost another before the Smokies. One got off at Fontana as she planned to, and I made it 700 miles...
I hope a lot of the NOBO's are getting through there today. 70 degrees up on the mountain. Finally some good weather for the north bounders!
Perhaps my method of filtering water has something to do with it. I learned from Powder River to gather my water in a designated water bag from the source, let it stand for a bit,and then filter it...
MSR Hyperflow? I used it the last part of my section hike. I got tired of pumping all day using my MSR Miniworks. What a difference! The technology is different, maintenance is different, the...
