lol, this thread makes me think of that scene from southbounders, "I'm just hiking in my happy hippy hiking suit"
I got mine for $30... much less than I pay for most footwear minus flipflops...
That's awesome, I don't plan on crossing into Illinois, but plan on going east. I'm fairly familiar with all the towns that the trail goes through, I'm just worried about the trail not being marked...
Thank you! Went ahead and ordered the Indiana map, not as detailed as AWOL, but it should work.
If anyone read my other post, you know I can't do the AT this year; so I've been looking at other long distance hikes close to home. I noticed that the ADT runs through both northern and southern...
where are you getting the chafing? Is it on the inside of your thighs or on your perineum?
I ask because I've had both and use two different methods for each.
First thing I did was change out the suspension with AHE whoopie slings (thinner/lighter tree straps, continuous loop whoopie slings, and aluminum toggles). Super easy to hang and adjust to the right...
It was pretty disheartening, not just the trail, but having to withdraw from everything. I would have liked to even get out there this summer because technically I don't have anything with school...
Got some bad news. I had to withdraw from this semester and have to retake my classes next spring due to a horrible lower respiratory infection. I'm hoping I can go spring of 2015 if funds allow, but...
I've used my military issue poncho as a tarp for my hammock, I hung the ridgeline low and didn't get wet in light rain. I couldn't tell you how it works in bad weather though. There is definitely a...
I use camouflage toilet paper, or just put everything in my pocket
I just squat, lean my back up against a tree, spread em', and let loose the dogs of war. ( I find that the spreading leads to less wiping in the end) (no pun intended).
Sounds awesome, look forward to meeting you guys!
Thank you, that's pretty much what I've been trying to say. It's not the blood loss that is creating that feeling, it is the nerves. Even though reduced blood flow could be a cause, it's not actually...
That's awesome, what year is she? It's the most stressful thing I have ever done in my life. They throw so much at you and expect you retain all of it.
"Any discussion of what causes limbs to fall asleep would be remiss without talking about the common misconception that a limb falling asleep is caused by a lack of blood flow to the entire limb...
Hooah Crampton, wishing him a fast recovery and hope he gets to one day realize his dream and get back on the AT.
That's awesome! It's crazy how some of that stuff pops up so many years later. Glad to hear you got it, congratulations!
not quite a physician, but I'm studying nursing with the end goal of being a nurse practitioner if everything goes right.
I apologize for the Incivility Hill Ape!
I'd love to have a discussion related to neuropathy though! Is it diabetic related?
I also have access to a ton of medical journals, they come with the...
I apologize, I never claimed to be an expert. It was what I was taught while going to school for medicine. You're probably right though.
Haha, I have to agree, I think I learn something new every day visiting this site.
I've never seen glenfiddich or glenlivet below 12 years. I've only seen 12, 15, and 18 in the liquor stores around here.
I love glenfiddich and glenlivet, both are very good and are extremely pleasurable to my pallet.
