I am looking for a slow hiker partner around Kent. I've brought the family up there a couple times to scope it out and figure out where the trail is. Found it. Let me know if you're interested.

I've got about a dozen water bottles and would gladly give half away. Don't live close to the trail though. :p
Fixed it for you :D
We recently got our first REI in the area. A very good, big store. I love our local EMS, not quite as glamorous but I get great friendly advice there. Decisions . . .
I have heard that Texas still has the option to become it's own country. Part of that whole Alamo outcome I think. We're probably stuck with Maine. :p
They came out late summer '10. I ordered mine from AT Conservancy. Got the maps quick and a month later got the new CT book. Particularly important to me.
Heartfire, now I wish I was taller. That looks fantastic!
Anyone diggin' the new Thermarest Trekker? I checked it out today at EMS and really liked it. Not sure I want to replace my Pro Lite at the asking price.
The Trekker is 6 oz lighter and packs up...
I've just ordered a Six Moons Lunar Duo for the extra space. Needs hiking poles as well and is not free standing.
I'd been going under that bridge for decades. Finally, this summer I went over it. A big kick for 'very personal very silly reasons' for sure. :banana
This is very helpful info. I will do an overnight at Schaghticoke Mountain Campsite in the near future and was planning on using that water source.
My big 4:
Lightheart Solo 1 lb 12 oz.
Osprey Exos 46 2 lb 5 oz.
Thermarest Prolite 1 lb
Marmot Never Winter 30- 1 lb 15 oz
TOTAL: 7 lb 1 oz
I didn't stay overnight but did a quick in/out and did not see any broken glass in the parking area. We came back to parking area with some folks who had overnighted and didn't see any problems.
Did a little out and back today to Upper Goose Pond (MA) and saw 4 NOBUs. They didn't smell bad and couldn't have been nicer. My wife and I were as fresh as daisies.
This is true. Car camped a month ago at Macedonia Brook State Park near Kent, CT and about 3-5 miles from AT. My son and I had fires in the fire ring both nights.
New one is coming out soon. Don't recall year of the last one. CT is only 52 miles of the AT so it's your call to get older version or wait a few more weeks.
