I e-mailed the contact link on his website asking for updates. I think his mom is supposed to be updating it. Haven't heard anything back yet.
If it's your first thru attempt why don't you just do it at a leisurely pace and enjoy it? Then you can go do it for speed in a couple years.
I'm sure they put their stuff on ebay as soon as they get back. :)
We use a First Need filter most of the time. Love it. For our AT section hike we are using Katadyn tablets. Those are great too.
I don't see an obituary for him yet so at least that is good.
yeah, his mom has made no new posts about him since like the 20th and looks like she's the one that is supposed to update his website daily. No updates. So, looks like survivorman didn't pack any...
I learned this the hard way. You get warm quick. Now I just start off with my hiking pants and a long sleeve Cap1. That's all I need until I stop at the end of the day.
Hope the wind is at his back or else he won't get the 60 miles in he needs to get today.
I second the REI T2. I would also recommend the MSR Hubba Hubba.
No updates on his website.
Ha, I do that with my maglight at work and wish I had my headlamp.
1. Said I couldn't sleep in a tiny solo tent. Now I bring it even for car camping.
2. Said I couldn't camp without a camp fire. Not a big deal to me now.
3. Said I couldn't eat freeze dried...
Thanks for the update.
Also, are your wicking layers skin tight? If they are too loose they won't wick either.
Is your windbreaker breathable? If it's not, the moisture can't escape after being wicked from your skin. Sounds like what your problem may be.
I usually carry Crocks on overnighters. They weigh a little over a pound though. I won't be carrying them on my three night section hike coming up.
Wool sock liners + wool socks = happy feet. I learned this the hard way.
LOL, good one!
Yeah and he did 4 miles in one hour. I bet it got slower after that. If he did hold that rate he'll need to do 15 hours a day. Hope he has a bright headlamp.
FYI, in order to buy from Clymb you have to be invited by a friend. If anyone wants an invite let me know. You'll need to pm me your e-mail address.
I'm doing pretty much the same section in a couple weeks. Only difference is we are exiting prior to Blood and going into Vogel State Park. This is totally doable in 3 days. That's exactly the amount...
Thanks. We are car camping at Vogel State Park the first night then getting shuttled to Springer the next day. Then we'll hike from Springer back to Vogel. So, we'll be eating near Vogel the first...
Thanks. I'm looking for a mom and pop type BBQ place to eat at the night before we hit the trail.
Does anyone know any good BBQ places in Blairsville?
