Perfect idea! I was going to suggest the exact same thing. The view from Blackrock is pretty nice.

I just noticed that you said "in a week or two". That's going to be too soon for me. I'm thinking towards the end of October.
I'd like to do that hike. When are you thinking about leaving?
Why do they call it a "hot water heater" when you don't have to heat hot water?
Why is there a mailbox in front of the post office?
You might try zappos.com. Order a bunch of pairs, try them out at you house, and return what you don't like. They have a 365 day return period with free return shipping.
+1 on the trailrunners. But most manufacturers list 300-500 mis as the useful life of the shoe. YMMV
I checked out their website and watched the videos. I think it's pretty slick. I'll try it when they introduce the beer product. It looks like fun!
Now we have a tread complaining about hikers complaints. Go figure.
23 guitars!
Easiest way to avoid it is just don't use a groundcloth. I have a tarptent contrail and I don't use anything under it.
I'm at work now! Plus, I have GAS (gear acquisition syndrome)!
I have the corklite poles without the anti-shock. I like them very much. I originally had the anti-shock version but I returned them.
Brooks lists their trail runners at 300-500 miles.
I use Lekis. I think more important that the manufacturer is the grip. I really like cork grips. I find them easier on my hands and easier to hold on to when wet.
I don't have experience with the models you are researching, but I did get rid of my BA fly creek for a tarptent contrail. One of the reasons is because its easier to keep the tent dry when setting...
Thay can't put something on the Internet that's not true.
Smile when you say that. :D

Wow! That's one heck of a first post.
No reservation needed in SNP. You just need to fill out a back country permit with your itinerary. You can do that at the park entrance.
With the tarptent contrail, rolling is about the only option.
I'm using the jetboil flash lid. It fits perfectly.
I use a Snow Peak Ti 700 with a jetboil top lid. For a food bag, I use a Sea to Summit dry sack.
I know the feeling. I used to be schizophrenic, but we're all better now.
I would watch it if they weren't naked. It would still be a tough survival situation.
