At the Rendezvous with my brothers at the end of our 1999 section hike. 18 years ago? Yikes!!!
The good Lord willing, our 32nd annual section hike this fall will include the ~50 mile stretch between Lyme-Dorchester Road and Franconia Notch in NH, which would leave us with ~375 miles to...

Mashipacong Shelter on a sunny morning in October 2010.
If you're talking about Big W's BBQ joint, I highly recommend it. We've dined there twice on our section hike trips up that way.

We did the north section of NY and all of CT in late September trips in 2011 and 2012 and the colors were not nearly as vibrant. Enjoy your walk. We'll be in VT and NH in...

Two things not to miss...the food at the Whistle Stop and the fantastic hospitality at the Green Mountain House Hostel. Vicki is indeed "super-hiker friendly", but incredibly she pales in comparison...
Just returned from a 50-mile walk in VT from Kelly Stand Road to the Whistle Stop at VT 103. The trail was in excellent shape with little or no mud issues. We were told that it's been dry, but we...
On consecutive sections hikes in 2013 and 2014 we left a car parked for multiple days at this location with no incidents.
Love the Bob Dylan reference in the thread title!
From Dayton, Ohio the closest access to the AT is at Bland, VA (~4.5 hours). A few years back we did a long weekend Spring Break hike in that area that included Chestnut Knob, Burke's Garden etc.
We left a car at the Vt Rte. 9 lot for 4 nites on a recent (September) section hike with no problems.
We spent an unseasonably warm nite at Kid Gore this past September, so we got to calling it the "Al" Gore shelter! Awesome sunrise at that shelter in September.
LOL. Frank Gore. Seeing as how you're from MA and not CA, you must have Mr. Gore on your fantasy team! Assuming you meant Kid Gore Shelter?
