    I've tried lots of different 'waterproof/breathable' rain jackets over the last 20+ years. In sustained rain while hiking, they all suck. It's just that some suck more than others. Just be sure you have some dry clothing & sleeping bag when you get to camp.

    Ive tried a lot but I would say hands down I love my Marmot Mica. Never had an issue with it and it works well for me as a hard shell.

    The only way a truly waterproof rain jacket is going to be breathable, is if it's large enough to get some air circulation, either from the bottom, open at the neck - pit zips help a lot.
