Default Well, It is almost offical

Looks very good that I will be a 2015 AT Thru-hiker. Just got word that I may be selected and given a full set of gear and a monthly stipend plus trail support and town support. Hope it all comes together. I will let you know more details once I know whether or not I have been selected. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

I have never heard of any body given such an award, unless you are doing it your self and want to make it sound good.

It is through a veteran organization called Warrior Hike "walk off the war" I will submit my application but, won't know until December 2014 whether I will be one of the two dozen people chosen. Until then, I will help with support and volunteer time.

If selected, I will be keeping a strict journal and maybe turn it into a memoir and try to get it published. Who knows, lord only knows I'm do for some good luck. Been a rough three years since I returned home from Iraq.

Right-on Brother! Hope you get in. A buddy of mine (USAF Veteran) & I (10-year Army Veteran) will be hitting the trail in 2015. No date set as of yet. I get 70% disability from the VA & FINALLY got my SSDI accepted for my PTSD (100% or IU coming from the VA God-knows-when) so I'm using my copious back-pay to fund my trip. I was thinking about getting in touch with Warrior Hike (since John & I both qualify) to see if we could drop-in on some of their stops if we don't leave too early. Either way, hope to see you on the trail or pics of you atop Mount Katahdin!
