Hi all. In mid April I plan to section hike between Camp Creek Bald and Indian Grave Gap. Any words you'd like to share on weather, shuttles, hiking traffic mid April etc.?

I always expect one small snow shower in April. I'm also looking forward to April for some 50* nights. But those are hit and miss. But once you get a few nights at 50 the Morels start popp'n.

Thank you for the input. On previous section hikes (not NC) I have encountered maybe 4 at the most at one time. From what you are saying terryg49 I can expect more than that at shelters and along the trail?

Definitely lots of thrus at that time. I don't have my guide in front of me. I assume Camp Creek Bald is south of Indian Grave Gap. If so and you're passing through Hot Springs, I definitely recommend a stay at Laughing Heart Hostel and a breakfast, lunch or dinner at the diner. You won't be disappointed. Also, if you can swing it, I highly recommend a stay at Hemlock Hollow Inn. The Cafe is terrific and priced just right for hikers.

The Hot Springs Trailfest will be April 11-13 this year. I suspect there will be a flood of hikers getting to Camp Creek bald on the 14th -16th. If your looking to experience the "bubble" that would be a good
    time to do it.
