Thread: AT Weather URL

    Default AT Weather URL

it's probably posted up here somewhere...

here's a url to the AT weather; it's supposedly updated regularly (daily); I'm going to monitor it for a few days to see if it is.

I think it's sketchy since everything is dated from 2006.

that's what I thought too but I did check the weather listed against current weather at various points and it was in agreement. The rest of the db I think is well outdated but the weather feed may still be accurate, which is why I will check it against current weather forecasts for a few days and will let folks know. But a cursory comparison between local weather reports and the db of various spots from Springer to Pearisburg today was in good agreement.

I used this website last year and it was pretty accurate. I have it bookmarked and will again be using it this year.
I start out the Day with nothing and by the end of the Day I still have most of it.

So i've compared the conditions in the DB to current weather of random places along the AT for a few days now and the separate sources have been in good agreement.

As a reference: I used NOAA (http://www.noaa.gov) for the most part but also used http://www.mountain-forecast.com to get weather from some of the mountains.

Not that the weather can be changed but it's kinda nice having some idea of temps anyway.

Funny to look at it just now... It must be accurate- shows snow from Springer to Katahdin without exception!

If you view the page source code you can see that it imports the weather data from NOAA. The date is simply the date from when the webpage was published/created. Pretty nice tool.
