I've been doing more trail running and longer day hikes lately. Anybody interested in trying out the Thomas Jefferson 100K next month? It's a relatively flat course near Charlottesville. The only big negative is having to do the loop seven times (but that makes the logistics easier because you can stash all the food and drink in your car that you could possibly need). Would love to have somebody else do it with me. My goal will be to run the first lap or two, then fast walk the rest of the distance. To finish you only need to average 3.5 miles per hour, not unreasonable if you move quickly and don't take long breaks.

Sounds interesting but I have trans-Zion to prepare for the first weekend in April. I also wouldn't be thrilled with seeing the same scenery 7 times.

Me either, but I do like the idea of biting off a big chunk of ground and keeping the logistics simple. It will be the first time I've done more than 40 miles.

How much time are you taking for Trans Zion?

It's 49 miles and I hope to do it in about 12 hours. Here's a great write up from last April. Definitely a bucket list run.
