with a snail on it, I'll consider changing my trail name to Snail's Pace.

When I first saw Golden Bear I thought Jack Nicholas The Golfer took up hiking in his retirement. MMMMM Guess not.

You try it and report back, lol. To the best of my reconnaissance I've determined that it's chicken and dumplings made with liver instead of chicken....

I once was given & brought some " Spotted Dick" on the trail & shared with all for dessert. Thank goodness that did not become my name. Many years ago, on a cold dark morn, I was tagged the Stealth Pooper. No real mystery there. While funny at the time, that's not really my choice for a trail name. You can't pick your parents, but whenever possible try to pick your trail name.

For a lot of people hiking is a chance to step away from normal life at home... Using a trail name allows those people to forget about "Dave who is stressed out from his job", and become "Easy Going" who can forget about all that stuff for a little while and embrace everything the trail has to offer

I think it more correct to say that no one chooses their birth name.

And changing your name later in life is not choosing a birth name.

Some animal names that I haven't heard yet:
    Slug
    Deer Tick
Protozo(a) - fits in with NOBO, SOBO, HOBO, SOLO, etc
    Leech

    Maybe if they were cuter...?
