What a wonderful piece to read first thing in the morning.

Great article. I'll have to check out those two books. I'm wondering if this is where Warrior Hike "walking off the war" philosophy was developed?

Cindy Ross has some other blog posts where she writes about one of last year's Warrior Hikers. Very good, too. Just hit the previous arrow. In fact I am finding a lot of great stuff from her at this blog site (on a more amusing level I couldn't ignore her 3-part review of Shady Rest, which is good because now I can scratch that off my to-do list) and I even found a link to have he future blogs sent via email.

As for this piece, learning about how Earl's war-time poetry was lost to the ages was something I didn't know before. Sad, that.

I recently watched a short film titled "The Last Patrol". It was interesting and insightful, though the hike was along rr tracks and technically tresspassing.
