    Default Mid April hike ideas

Looking for some 2-4 day ideas for mid April. Would rather not ruin the trails by hiking through muddy season, so VT is out for me..maybe the CT/MA section of the AT?

Want to test out some gear. I'm in CT. dont mind driving 2 hours

SNP? We are going to try to get a few weeks in beginning in Mid April and thinking wildflowers and lots of rain! The rain is inescapable (least looks that way).

There is a good chance every where from NJ north will be deep in mud season mid April this year. Finding a good place to hike in April is tough. Even as far south as Georgia can be iffy. SNP would be about as far north as I'd risk hiking.

April showers bring May flowers, so don't expect to see many until into May, especially up in SNP.

Mid April is not bad in PA. The rocks ward off the mud and springs are still flowing. Leaf-out on AT north of Harrisburg is usually right in the middle of April.

Late April is OK for the "PA Wilds" the non-AT trails of northcentral PA. Wildflowers tend to be more abundant here than along the AT.
