Segments 22-28 Spring Creek Pass to Durango, per CT Guidebook. Or Collegiate West Twin Lakes to South Fooses and Collegiate East ending at Mt Princeton Hot Springs, per CT Collegiate Loop Map Book or Databook+Lat40. Possibly the prettiest sections but also the highest and hardest.

    Eric,
Im planning to do the Western 80-100 miles of the CT in late August. What timeframe are you looking at being out there?

Looking at doing a section of the CT next year and am considering do sect 22 - 28. Since we will most likely be driving is there and long term parking in Durango and how difficult is it to get a transportion from Durango to the trail head at Spring Creek Pass. Any other suggestions or recommendation would be greatly appreciated.

Difficult. Transport Durango to Spring Crk Pass is hard. The driving miles dwarf the trail miles. There are 2 driving routes you or your driver would probably consider. The non-4wd route goes over Wolf Creek Pass and is approximately 3 hours one way, 6 hours round trip. The 4wd route is through Silverton and over Cinnamon Pass and probably 4 hours one way, 8 hours round trip. Both are very scenic, the 4wd route even more so. Zero public transport. Guessing it might be hard for you to score a ride from an individual, though you might get lucky via networking. Or, you might contract a jeep rental or rafting company to deliver you (they have the commercial driving licenses that make it legit) though guessing it'd be costly.
