Default Man Punches Grizzly Bear in the Face

    http://globalnews.ca/news/824369/man...attack-in-b-c/

Saw this on the news tonight. It's tragic and all, and thankfully the guy survived with relatively minor injuries, but this is awesome: “I punched her right square in the nose,” he said. “I gave it all I had to get away.”

Reminds me of Conan and the horse.

It was actually a camel... after it spat on him. :-) You did remind me of one of my favorite stories by my dad though. He was riding a horse in England during some soldier R&R time, many moons ago. The horse got very cantankerous and tried to take him through all manners of branches and scrub, in an attempt to knock him off. My dad got finally him under control, then reached up (was still on his back) and punched the horse as hard as he could in the side of the jaw. After that, the horse was nice for the rest of the ride. Aaah, only my dad. But I digress.

The dude in this story is one lucky bugger. Scratched up face, but at least it's still attached to his skull. How many of these stories start out by someone inadvertantely startling a grizzly mom with her cubs?

I guess in both examples it goes to show that sometimes, you just have to punch an unruly animal in the face.

Not uncommon to do with black bears.
I know that once at Philmont Scout ranch a black bear grabbed a goat at a staffed camp. A staffer ran out and punched the bear in the face. It let go of the goat and ran off.
Staffers are taught to be aggressive toward problem black bears, campers are taught to be vewy vewy afraid.

Certainly not the first time this has happened.

It may be legal soon to start shooting Grizzlies; I think it'll be a lot safer than punching them

Mongo was misunderstood. He was a simple man and a "...pawn in the game of life." I can relate.
