Default which alcohol stove do you prefer?

I've been using a DIY Zelph style Fancy Feast but have also occasionally used a Rucas stove. So what alcohol stove do you use?

I like and use the Starlyte. I have the 10-12 (12-10) and the Vargo Ti stove. Someone sent me a new one, which seems interesting but need to try it in the field.

One more for the cat food can. When I bought mine, it even came with free cat food! Can't believe I made it, and the silly thing actually worked!

I used a Brasslite for awhile. A really nice stove and well made. I like the simmer ring too even though I didn't use it much. Lately I has been using a DIY fancey feast. Can't go wrong with either one.

    Groove stove

    Groove_Stove.jpg

Combined with a Sterno Inferno pot and DIY pot stand and lid. (The other stuff that comes with the pot is heavy junk... discard it.)

That’s right, the cats even benefited. Didn’t thank me tho.

Only trick - make sure it’s an aluminum can, it’s hard to paper punch the steel ones.

Starlyte with Zelph's stainless steel stand for this old boy because I am a klutz and don't want to chance knocking over a can full of hot boiling alcohol.I speak from experience when I say "you don't wanna do that".Also, with the Starlyte and Zelp's other solid system stoves you don't wait on the bloom.Just light it and start cooking. In cold weather I do carry a fuel bottle small enough to fit in a pocket so it will be warm for the morning brew.

I too have used a tealite stove, sometimes with the jetboil pot. The jetboil pot simply goes over the tealight though a slight heightening of the jetboil seemed just a bit helpful, but not required. IIRC it was about 6 minute boil time, but it was a long time ago so may be misremembering the boiltime.

Zelph starlyte with a Trail Designs Sidewinder Ti-Tri. (gives the option to use esbit or wood as well) everything fits in a Toaks 900mL pot.

Thanks for the input guys. Yesterday I started playing with the rucas stove again. it was about 50* with a 20mph wind. Lets put it this way if i'm hungry im depending on my fancy feast stove for a hot meal. With that said I ordered a whitebox stove last night to fool with. Lets see if I wasted $24. On a positive note, I picked up three 4 packs of heet for $3 each on clearance at Walmart.

Which size brasslite are you guys using, 1D or 2D? and what diameter is the pot you couple it with?

I have noticed that Walmart clearance sales can tend to be nationwide. Recently when the Mountainhouse 2 day "emergency pack" went on sale, someone on here posted about it so I went to check it out. My local Walmart did indeed have the mountain house on clearance for the same price as the poster got it for (1/2 off). This may be the case for HEET to, I work within walking distance from Wal Mart, so I'm going at lunch to check! will report back!

I use the beer can alcohol stove. Works great! Weighs next to nothing.
