Poll: Which direction did you go or which direction will you go on the CT?

We're going SWBO, starting July 20th. It seems to me you'd have fewer people-passings if you're going with the flow than if you're going against it... So if you want to meet lots of people and then leave them again, go NEBO. If you're hoping to hike with newfound trail friends, go SWBO.

I wonder if the same holds true for the mountain bike encounters. Are they mostly going in one direction or the other?

In section 3, where you'll see a ton of MBers, seems like they tend to be going SWBO, same in section 6 actually. I actually prefer to be facing the "traffic" so you have more time to react. Keep your ears sharp in section 3. But still, starting on a Monday, hitting 3 on, say, Wednesday, should not be a problem.

I section-hiked the CT back in about 1990, trying both directions, and found that on the north-south sections like the Collegiates, hiking south was definitely preferable. The north-facing slopes are cooler, have a higher treeline, and have more water in general.

I also noticed on a hike of the Collegiate West route last week that the east-facing slopes were wetter than those facing west, for what that's worth, probably due to more snow being deposited on the lee side of the prevailing west wind.

Contemplating the pronunciation of SWBO, I think it should be pr:Swebbo.

SoWEbo (we have the neighborhoods in SW Baltimore collectively called this!)

Anyways, my wife and I intend to SWBO the CT next summer.
