Default Getting on the AT in a few weeks

Hey everyone, I introduced myself about 10 months ago but I have not been very active in posting. I've lurked around a lot but haven't had time to be too active due to classes and work.

I'm getting on the AT a little bit in a few weeks when I head up to GSMNP with my grandfather. We plan to hike Shuckstack, Mt. Cammerer, Andrew's Bald area, Mt. Leconte via Alum Cave and a couple other undecided trails. I have hit a few 15 mile day trips this summer but this will be my one big trip before I start taking classes again. I'm getting a new pack for the trip.. Osprey Kestrel 28 since I don't need to carry too much on those hikes. I will try and post pictures during or after the trip. Happy hiking everyone!

Sounds fun, have a great hike! (Are they day hikes or are you backpacking?)

Mostly day hikes but might do some backpacking around the Andrew's Bald area. Thanks!

Just wanted to update real quick. Did not get to do any overnighters. My grandfather's knee was not up to par so I ended up hiking alone mostly minus two days. Here's a few pics. Met some nice people from Birmingham at Charlies Bunion. Don't know if any of them are active on the forum but was just going to throw it out there and see. We hiked to mt. Leconte via alum cave together and also did rich mountain loop in Cades cove together. Had a great time

Great photos, Centerfieldr! That second one is gorgeous! GoPro, I assume or something different? Glad you got to get out and share some time in the woods with your Grandfather.

Excellent photos! At least you got to spend some time with Grandpa, which is cool any day of the week.

Great pics. Nothing like being on the trail, especially with family. Glad you got to go.
