While I like Little Debbie cakes and peanut M&Ms are excellent even in warm weather, clearly the gold-standard hiker junk food is the Snickers bar, which is my favorite...

Hey chair-man (also on east coast Fla.) keep an eye open for Carrot Cake. Little squares, 2×2? it is seriously to die for. I found it in Circle King in Citrus County and know of one place in Brevard. There are probably other places but if i found them then I'd have to go into rehab.
Most Carrot Cake makes my teeth ache, way too much sugar. But this stuff - (cue the hallelujah chorus)!!!

Honey Buns are overrated. From Little Debbie, I like the oatmeal pies, and the donut sticks. May real favorite is, of course, peanut M&Ms. While they don't hold up that well in the heat, the boxes of danishes from Wal-Mart are catching up quick.

Oatmeal Cream Pies are hard to find where you are? I have yet to go to a gas station or grocery store here that didn't have em. For us Soldiers going out to the field, they are the ultimate junk food- sweet, no chocolate to melt, self enclosed in their own wrapper to mitigate messes, and good old oatmeal to "get things moving along" when needed.

My fave trail junk food? Starburst. I've always had a hankering for them as comfort food. At the Roan High Knob Shelter last month I stood out by the fire ring and ate 2 packs in one sitting. Perfect.

Other "junk food" favorites- Lance Peanut Butter Crackers, Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream Pies, Kind Fruit & Nut Bars (Cranberry and Vanilla Blueberry!), Rice Krispy Treats. Nutty Bars, mmm. Fruit Rollups.

    STARBURST.

CCCCCCCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKKKKKKKKKKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEE EEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! Oma is the femme version of Cookie Monster, minus about 200 lbs.

Any cookie (except double or triple chocolate) anywhere, anytime, particularly oatmeal-raisin, ginger snaps, and snickerdoodles.

And, Nutty Buddies are awesome, but not so good on a hot day.
