I can't make that one as I will be heading out on my traverse through FL.
    FL to AL or Bust...

I have spent a New Year's Eve up on Springer and it is a nice place to bring in the New Year. Nice location, good friends.

At this point I am begining to look toward other plans for the weekend of 10/28. Perhaps a kayak trip with my hiking partner Lwop, his wife and my husband. I know he would like that.

    Question What the $%^&!!!

Why is this so freaking hard????? You'd think we were trying to come up with a cure for cancer.

No commitment.... No one leader.... beats me but I'm tired of the go around so I'm making other plans. If you guys figure it out, have a good time,

Yup, whoever brought up the Moot in the 1st place should have taken the inititive and ran with it. Having numerous threads didn't help.

If I have the weekend off, I intend on doing trail work on the MST near Bald Knob.

My knee has me out of commission so I can't make anything right now. This whole thing has been too wishy washy. I think this is the initial thread: http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/show...oot#post107083 .

I suggested back then to combine it with another event in Hot Springs... but nobody joined in. If it doesn't happen this fall, then the NYE at Springer and or the SoRuck in Jan will be prime opportunities for getting together. I think it will work fine to add it on to some other event that is backpacking related... I doubt we are talking about that many people at this point. Springer, NOC, Hot Springs, they are all good. Hot Springs has Trail Fest in the spring and the Bluegrass Festival in the summer with pretty good campground camping and the town for dining and a tavern.

rats!! well, i have that Friday and weekend off, so I'm gonna go camp at Lookrock campground on the west side of GSMNP. I'll keep an eye out for anyone that looks like they're babying their feet. That's kind of a tip off that a hiker is in sight.

What about the day after Tgiving, if we did it on that Friday night, people could head home on Saturday and still have Sunday to get ready for the week. Just an idea. I would vote for Springer because it's closest to me, but anywhere would work with the timetable available. Let's stop being wishy washy and just pick one. Only reason I hadn't chimed in till now is because I have a wedding that I am in, in Chicago on the 29th of October.
