my guess is all listed springs are freeflowing, its hot but we've had rain
I'm just back from Dick's Creek Gap-Deep Gap, rained, water there was fine. One spring was really slow, but creeks were great.
"Your comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there."
I'm pretty close to Unicoi. We experienced very minor rainfall the past couple weeks... but the streams are in fact flowing ever so slowly and in some areas very sufficiently.
If my stream in my backyard is anything like the stream on the trail a few miles away you should be able to have water.
Hope this helps!
From Ron's Appalachian Trail Shuttle: "Getting word that the water sources between Neels Gap and Testnatee Gap is getting hard to find. That's about 5 miles."
We have been very dry here in western NC this year. Most creeks and branches at lower elevation are running low, even for this time of year. The TV station in Chattanooga TN reports at least a 7+ inch deficite of rain this year. Tank up whenever you come to a water source on the trail.
Water is good. We are having rain today and tomorrow. Lots of rain.

It's raining right now. I'm in White County and it's supposed to continue to rain through the weekend. When you find water, replenish your supply and keep going.
lookin out the window, i see rain
How is the water source at Unicoi? Last year at this time as we approached Unicoi we were out of water and the source marked on our maps was nothing but wetness on the ground....
