    Default Insect Situation In Maine

Planning to do a stretch from Kennebec south to Sugarloaf at the end of August. Normally this is after any real insect problem. AM wondering whether this part of the trail had a wetter than usual season so as to have greater than usual bug problems later in the season This is what we have out here in western NY Thanks, Paddy

I haven't noticed any unusual bug activity here in northern NH. In fact, it's been a pretty mellow year bug wise. It has been a cool and wet summer and looks like an early start to fall. We're running about 2 weeks ahead of normal - be prepared! I suspect central Maine will be even cooler.
