Default Pipeline proposed by Dominion Resources to cross AT near Paul Wolfe Shelter

Dominion Resources has proposed building a 42 inch natural gas pipeline which, if built as currently proposed, would cross Blue Ridge Parkway near mile 4, and cross the AT in the vicinity of the Paul Wolfe Shelter. There is a web page friendsofnelson.com where you can access maps of the route, see photos of what construction of a pipeline of that size looks like, and read more about the project. I spent the night at Paul Wolfe a week ago, and like it just the way it is.

I crossed a pipe line being installed which crossed the AT leaving Pearisburg this spring. At least the pipelines are buried, unlike the power lines which sort of interfere with the view the cut creates. With out all the pipelines and power lines which cross the AT in Virginia, there wouldn't be very many views.

There are probably thousands of pipelines crossing the AT.

Amen. Otherwise folks east of the AT would be freezing in the dark trying to use dead cell phones.
