    Default Any May Starts!?

I will most likely be taking my trip in late April - early May. I was wanting to see who else might be leaving a little late next year!

I'm targeting a start during that timeframe. I was originally thinking May 1, but I've been juggling dates and most likely have settled on April 17.
Remote for detachment, narrow for chosen company, winding for leisure, lonely for contemplation, the Trail beckons not merely north and south, but upward to the body, mind, and soul of man.

Masonormous - I'm in the same boat as you. My last day at work should be Friday, 4/24/14 (not that I'm counting down or anything). The trail departure date will then be a trade off between spending a little time with my family and wanting to hit the trail. My guess is that I'll be looking to start some time the following week (i.e., 4/27-5/1).

From what I've been reading, if you're not pressed to get back for the start of a new school year, heading out a little later can be really pleasant. Sure there's great things to say about all approaches, though!

may 1st is a Friday... I personally would go like the 27th/28th or wait till 5th or 6th. mid week.... a lot will start may 1st and Saturday the 2nd...... not near many that will be starting april 1st but still..... I was planning on going may 10ish when I finished Grad school, but now its looking like it will be the following year before I get a chance to go back...... I hope yall enjoy your trips.... the AT is an awesome experience... don't plan too much out, just go with the flow and enjoy the ride.

I had been planning to do a SOBO this year, but I've had a change of heart and would like to get started as soon as I can. It is nice to see others that will be starting in May! I'll be making my way up the approach trail on or around May 8. See you guys out there.

I will be planning a 2015 hike, for end of may. I stealth hiked the trail in 2009 - almost all night hiking maybe 80% - I love night hiking, skipped most shelters and hostels. Bath in the rivers, streams, rain etc. I avoided people. But I think this time I'll be trying to be a more social creature. I will be doing a NOBO this time, and would love some company if anyone is starting off Springer around May 20th.

    Hi,
I'm in grad school and my last week of classes is the last week of April so I'd be looking to start late April/early May. I'm looking for a trail partner/partners that are close in age and skill level!

Hello to all May Starters! I am going to be starting on May 1 (hiking the approach trail the day before) so will be right up on Springer to touch the first blaze and head north. I going as far as Harpers Ferry-my boyhood home, so every step will be one of "walking home".
