Default Need a guitar for hiking the Camino in June

My 18 yr old nephew and I are hiking the Camino Frances in June of 2015. He would like to take a guitar.
What kind should he take and does anyone have a good used one for sale.

    Thanks

The Martin backpacker has poor sound quality and poor sound volume. Do not go by it's name recognition. But it is compact.
But I play button accordion, what do I know about anything?

A friend offered me her Martin backpacker when I hiked the Long Trail this summer. I declined, of course -- it would have come home in many small pieces. (She's not really aware of what that sort of hike entails.) But for a Camino, a guitar should survive. Probably.

The Washburn Rover gets pretty good reviews. Nothing this size is going to be loud, but that one looks playable at least and it's not too expensive.

Join one of these forums and ask the question there: A lot of the Aubergs on the Camino (F) had guitars in the common room.

There are several guitars listed on the "Cyber Monday" auction at http://www.cyberauctions.com. Several have a current bid of $40.

Washburn makes a good backpacking guitar.
You wont ever be able to find a great backpacking guitar, just because they are so small.

I decided to go with a ukulele because they are much lighter and smaller.
You can get strings for a ukulele so it will tune like other instruments. (So you dont have to learn new cord shapes) you might want to look into that and see if that's an option.

I'm leaving for the camino in the spring as well, and I am hoping not to run into too many people with a guitar!
