Honda AT swag?

First off I would like to thank Honda Holiday advertisement this year for no Michael Bolton! This Season Honda holiday commercials have various toys 30-40's somthings(stretch Armstrong mainly for me) have flash backs of their youth, Jem a Barbie doll style rockstar of the 80's is on a regular rotation of promoting and new Honda. Entering into that ad is a bearded G.I. Joe wearing an AT patch and AT symbol medallion.

Any idea of why subliminal AT placement is on Honda's agenda?
Does AT have a sponsorship deal with Honda?

I didn't have one of the 70's GI Joe's but my friends did, mine was prob late 50's or 60's doll. I just never saw that sticker/patch in the 70's. I know a resurgence in the mid-late 80's but I was of driving age by then and girls have... a need for rides?!

The stretch monster yes I remember, in fact Armstrong was much more popular and when my best friend and wanted to find out what they are made of stretch monster went under the knife and this dark red jelly oozed out and made a mess. We boys got in trouble... wasn't the first time nor the last.
