I have Garmin 100K map and My Trails map but it would be helpful if I had the trails on a topo map. can anyone tell me how to do that. I'm new to GPS use.

Read the "ReadMe.txt" file that comes with my trails.
Basically, use "gpsmapedit" to open the .img file, then delete what you don't want, export as KML file, open in Google Earth, and then export as GPX file.
They _are_ transparent, so if you load them in your gps with a program like img2gps, you can load "my trails" and your topos and turn them both on in your gps.
There are better topos available free than the garmin 100k, depending on what state you want. I use both GA and NC 24K topos from gpsfiledepot.
I think you can also load multiple layers in BaseCamp. I use MapSource, in which you can not. Try that also (but it still can't convert them to GPX if that is what you want.
10K was up on this stuff. PM him.
I'm so confused, I'm not sure if I lost my horse or found a rope.
Thank goodness theres some smart people on this site. I got it now , topo maps with My Trails
This week was the first time I was really in needed of a GPS. I was on the Benten McKaye Trail that wasn't blazed good. Now the topo will help.
Thanks
Get the .gpx file for the BMT and the Pinhoti, ASRT, CT trails and Alabama's GET (roadwalk) from my site... On line maps are there too.
