Does the slap count if you wanted to buy Bimbo when they bought parts of Hostess?

when dropping food on the ground is no longer reason to throw it away.

when your gear closet has a bit of "unpleasant odor" about it...and it's not because you left some food in your pack that is spoiled.

when you no longer visit the outfitter because you have at least one of everything.

when you have tried and kept enough tents, packs, gear that you and 5 random strangers picked at a gas station could leave for a thru hike tomorrow with just one stop along the way to pick up about 4 days worth of food.

    A real OLD hiker!!! ROTFLMAO!!!

I'm glad I had just finished my cup of coffee, AT Traveler, or I would have spit a mouthful all over my computer screen!!!

I'll say you're a real hiker when your garage has more hiking gear than tools.

Yea, like keeping it hidden so your wife doesn't know you're looking at it.

As a child, instead of collecting stamps like all the other kids, you collected alcohol stoves...

You prowl grocery stores for odd little packaged meals and sauces, things you don't normally eat at home. You have a vast collection of small lidded containers. You have gloves for every conceivable type of weather.

When you not a gear closet, but a gear room. A whole room dedicated to your gear.

When wool and synthetics account for more than half of your entire wardrobe. Also, when you make a quick trip to the dollar store and you find yourself wandering the aisles thinking about what would be appropriate resupply food items for a hike!

Yeah, this! And you spend on average $600/month, that's 7-grand a year on gear and other outdoor supplies....

Wow, Rob, that picture looks like it was taken at an outfitter's store! Looking at it inspires me to organize our stuff better.

When asked directions, or locations you reference trail names, parks and forests instead of towns, stores and street names.

You're a real hiker when ... you understand "hiking season". That's when you don't bother putting your gear away, because you're going right back out next month. The AT guide is on the floor next to the couch for quick reference. The boots are at the base of the stairs, ready to slip on. The pack has been emptied of perishables and stinky clothes, but otherwise, it's in the living room ready to go. The food bag is in the kitchen, with a Ziploc of leftovers inside, the clean kitchen gear beside it, and recent food purchases nearby.
