Heartwarming doesn't begin to describe this story.
Wow....Sarah stayed with me on her thru hike and I never heard her mention about this.....out of the group she was with you could tell she was set aside, she touched me and I told her this.....yeah I can see all that happening like she told it......

That ranks up at the top of AT legends with Bill Irwin and grandma Gatewood. Thanks for sharing. Does anyone happen to know Nectar's name.
amazing story, thanks for sharing. Reminded me a bit of Parkside's journey.
Yes, I admit I was misty eyed as I read this story. My hats off to Sarah Nectar Maes.
The writer of this story, 'Clever Girl', is a very talented writer. I highly recommend following her Blog. I enjoyed reading her 2013 thru-hike journal, and I have been a fan ever since.
Sad, and wonderful.

Thank you for posting that Scotty.
What an amazing story!
This is a nice dedication to that young man and Nector - also "Papa" - who tried to physically fulfill his son's dream, but instead did it in a way that still counted!
Very selfless, generous act by the young lady.
Zack gave his life for us. This young Lady did an amazing thing for him, his Dad, his family and friends. Forever grateful to Zack and this young Lady. Thank You
