Lived in NY my whole life, moving the the west coast at the end of the summer. Figured I'd walk the whole east coast first, make sure I see all it has to offer.

    Estimated Start Date: Late March
Approach Trail - Depends on logistics as I get closer, but it's not a must for me

Type 1 Diabetic. Solo Hiker. First attempt. I'm pretty stubborn and I'm most at peace when I hike, so short of two broken legs I expect I'll be seeing Katahdin sporting a big smile.

Trail Name: Raezer and Black Water Hatty
    Direction: NOBO
    Estimated Start Date: Feb 28
Approach Trail: no, been there, done that.
I am going to finish section hike GA to Tenn.
    Start At: Hightower Gap

March 17 2015 I was leaving Hawk Mountain Shelter,
rested, excited, 2 Liters of water, plenty of money,
weather was perfect with a cool breeze blowing, plenty
of time off from work, everything was perfect for my hike!
..what a great day and so looking to forward progress!
...anyway, I blew my knee out going down into Hightower Gap,
I was going a little to fast and overloaded. This year,
lighter and less gear and going to take my time as opposed
to a measure of distance over time schedule.

I've been dreaming about the AT for a decade and am in a time of transition in my life. My wife and I just moved back from Arizona (we both grew up in NC) and I'm going to go for my life goal now rather than later. Cheers!

Had my retirement ceremony last Friday after over 40 years in the Navy. I grew up on an island so that plus my job means I have spent my life on the ocean. Wanted to do something way out of my swim lane, but would give me a chance to clear my head, stay away from the news and technology. Only two choices came to mind, sailing or the AT. Sailing is not really out of my swim lane and I will do that until I cant any more, so . . . .
