    Default Tentsile Hammock Tent

Its a bit on the heavy side, but I find this oddly compelling...

I owen the midel stingray since about 5 years. They are great, fun but heavy. Very comfortable and you find easy a spot to place it. At night you can scare the **** out of people, just put a lightsource in it.

Compared to a hammock, that has to put huge loads on the trees - especially with those lines almost horizontal. You need some really beefy trees.

About 7-8 inches are ok, and you can use some treeprotections for not leavin any traces. I never had a problem for fnding some good trees. Maybe up on a mountain, ok there is nothing to hang them on. BUT, you can use this tent like a normal one on the floor.

My biggest concern would be that lots of parks have prohibitions about attaching ANYTHING to trees. Many don't even allow hammocks, although the hanging community has been eating away at those prohibitions by educating park managers/staff that hammocks using wide straps don't damage trees if they are attached properly. Something that big is going to attract a lot of attention though - and possibly not the kind you want.

I tried to get a closer look at the strapping, but from what I could tell it looked like 2" ratchet straps. Pretty stout stuff and you can pull tremendous amount of pressure with them. Flatbed truck drivers use them to secure loads. Going to take some pretty good tree protectors to not leave a mark.
