Default where to stay near Palmerton?

My wife and I are going to hike through PA this summer and read that the Jail House Hostel in Palmerton is now closed. Are there any places to stay in Palmerton or surrounding area? I stayed in an old hotel back in 2005, but didn't see it on any of the guides for this year. Any help would be appreciated.

I am working on day hikes of the AT north of Duncannon. I set up shop at the Hampton Inn in Lehighton PA - at least for the sections around Palmerton.

Just looked up the Palmerton Hotel....believe it or not, I think it's a restaurant and not a hotel.

Here is a place a day's hike before Palmerton -- the owner was hiker friendly (e.g., even allowed tenting in back) when I was there in 2011. Good breakfast too!

their's a few hotels in palmerton, too bad the thru-hikers couldn't show more respect so the jail house would stay open, but thats the thru-hiker selfishness syndrom.

I think the Hotel is above the restaurant (IIRC). When I went thru in 2013, I stayed one night @ the Jailhouse Hostel. Bad weather came thru the following morning. We were unable to get the city staff to allow us to stay another day in the hostel. We (there was 3 of us hiking together) tried to find someplace nearby that was 'reasonable.' It was all really pricey. So, we waited until the storm lessened & left town. We avoided the big climb & used the blue-blaze winter route instead (lessening the exposure to lightning).

Sorry I didn't see this question sooner-I stayed at the Slatington Hotel, but unfortunately the manager said he wasn't open to hikers in general due to the stories he'd heard about some hikers' behavior. He was very nice and I was well treated but that's the situation.
