Springer on Memorial Day Weekend

Howdy! I was wondering what kind of company to expect during Memorial Day weekend. It will be the start of a long (Springer to Harper's Ferry) section hike and though I have backpacking experience I have never been on the AT. My first day on Springer will be the Monday of Memorial Day. Will crowds be an issue? Anything else worth mentioning?

I'm hoping to not have to worry since the next day may be a regular weekday, but there may be plenty of folks who are also starting summer vacation around that time. Usually, I'll go out of my way to avoid crowds but this is just how it rolls this time around.

Probably not crowds, no, and since you're starting when most people need to head home it'll drop off quickly. There will be other hikers on the trail, but you'll be able to avoid them
