    Default Bear cables in Georgia

Are there bear cables at the shelters in Georgia?

In most of them, but not all. None at Blood Mountain Shelter or Plumorchard Gap shelter. I would guess there are none at Woods Hole since it is covered by the same seasonal canister rule as Blood Mountain (requred 3/1-6/1), but I haven't been to that one personally so I can't say for sure. I think all the rest have them.

Thank you for the info. Won't worry so much about getting it down. Have everything just in case.

When I hiked through last year, there were cables at Plumborchard Gap shelter.

Yes, because the bear canister rule is in effect only part of the year.

To the OP, it's worth practicing your bear bag hanging technique. I highly recommend the PCT Method. It's relatively simple and more secure.

Thanks, I have my rope, knot and watched the PCT method. Guess I best get on it. We leave June 21'. If it doesn't stop raining around here I may have to hang myself from the tree to keep from drowning.
