His entourage better have reservations. His original goal was 42. Reservations are not that easy. Forget rangers stopping people at the Hunt Trail. There might be rangers stopping a van at the gate.
If his van is at Abol Bridge to meet him, they'll have to scramble to get in to Katahdin Stream Campground far enough ahead of him to send the camera guy up to Baxter Peak.
A weekend in July. Lines at the gate. Full parking lots. Sold out campground.
His crew had better have their act together.

He has a canoe placed at the ferry point.

Looks like his GPS was in the van for an hour, from one trailhead to another.

So the "noon cutoff " is a red herring?

Did he share plans for tomorrow? Looking like he's not budging tonight.

I predict Horton shows up with the secret weapon. Powerade and Donuts and a bag of Hardee's and Scott feels like normal again.

looks like he's stopped for the night at west cary pond lean-to. 36.5 miles for the day. with 3.5 days left (presuming he starts hiking again at 5am) he's got 165 miles to go. his average needed miles per day continues to climb, it's now at 47 MPD.

Yes. Even if he continues, his pace has not increased as much as I expected. He is still under 2 mph for the day. He has done about 2 mph since getting off Little Bigelow. Even if he is moving at 2.5 mph now, he won't make Pierce Pond until 4 AM. I could be wrong about being wrong. If he can't pick it up in this area, the record might be safe after all. Ya', I ain't got a clue. But it is still fun guessing.

Edit: He is moving. His coordinates just updated.

Today should be interesting. On my reckoning (with 165 miles to go), Scott needs to do a 50 today, and close to that on Friday and Saturday, to put him within 15 miles of Katahdin.

If he does a lot less than 50 today, these other days start to look challenging.
