Default The Buckeye Trail! Have any of you thru hiked it?

Good morning adventurers, I was doing some research on trails here in Ohio and I actually didn't realize the Buckeye Trail went all around the state. Part of it happens to be only a few miles away from my house. But anyways, I think it'd be a lot of fun to thru hike someday. Are there any of you who have thru hiked it? Or know any resources/first hand accounts of people who did? Gear lists? Anything would help! I'm not finding a ton of info on it but I'm definitely going to continue looking! Thanks for any advice, tips, links, anything you give. I appreciate it!!

I would think thru hiking it would be hard. A lot of it is still road walking and camping would be problematic along much of the trail I think.

    Jump onto http://trailtalk.buckeyetrail.org/
"Captain Blue" thru-hiked the trail and will probably give you all the info you need.
"Buckeye" also lists some stuff on http://buckeyetrail.org/how-backpackgear.php
I'll make sure to touch up the blazes in my section if I know you are coming through.
    Backpacking light, feels so right.

Thank you!! My section is the Defiance section. I think the BT would be so sweet to thru hike since so few have done it before. Also it'd be cool to hike around my home state!

How long do you think this would take Ben? I doubt I could take off the work, but it would be cool to jump on near the Indiana/Ohio boarder.

BenOnAdventures--Kentucky's 318 mile Sheltowee Trace is a bit further from Defiance, Ohio than the Buckeye Trail, but it may nonetheless merit your attention. I've section hiked the whole Sheltowee Trace. It's quite scenic and has less road walking than the Buckeye Trail includes. Years ago my father section hiked all of the AT then did the same for the Buckeye Trail. The sections of the BT that my father liked best were those that went through southeastern Oho, the section of the state that, like Kentucky, was never glaciated.

Because the Sheltowee Trace is routed thru public jurisdictions, principally the Daniel Boone National Forest and Big South Fork National Recreation Area, its possible to hike all of it while doing back country camping.

I apologize for the late reply (have had several relatives here for my grandparents 50th anniversary) and it takes approximately 8-10 weeks from what I've read.
